This policy forms part of the Terms of Service and applies to everyone using Viewshed, including a customer’s authorized users and anyone posting through a public page it serves.
Do not use Viewshed to
- break the law, or help someone else do so, including privacy, consumer protection, election, campaign finance, lobbying, civil rights and accessibility law;
- collect personal information you have no right to collect — this includes uploading a contact list you did not obtain properly, and asking questions designed to identify people who were promised anonymity;
- harass, threaten, defame, impersonate, dox or endanger anyone, or publish someone’s private information without a basis for doing so;
- publish or transmit content that is unlawful, that incites violence, or that sexually exploits children — we report child sexual abuse material to the National Center for Missing & Exploited Children as federal law requires;
- misrepresent who is running a consultation, or present manufactured, duplicated or manipulated responses as genuine public opinion;
- submit regulated data the platform is not built for — protected health information, payment card numbers, Social Security or driver’s license numbers, financial account numbers, student education records, or biometric identifiers. See section 4 of the DPA;
- upload malware, or use the service to phish, mine cryptocurrency, or host content unrelated to an engagement program;
- infringe copyright, trademarks or other rights.
Outreach email
Outreach is for reaching people about the engagement program they are part of. Every message we send on a customer’s behalf identifies the sending organization, carries a working one-click unsubscribe link, and includes a physical address — the things CAN-SPAM requires. You must not:
- send unsolicited bulk email, or mail a list you bought, scraped or were not given for this purpose;
- ignore an unsubscribe, or re-add someone who opted out;
- use outreach for marketing, fundraising or campaigning unrelated to the engagement program;
- falsify the sender, the subject line or the routing information of a message.
Do not attack the service
- probe, scan or test the security of the platform without our written permission, other than good-faith vulnerability research reported to [security@example.com];
- circumvent authentication, rate limits, response-integrity checks or tenant isolation, or access another organization’s workspace or data;
- submit automated or scripted survey responses, or otherwise inflate response counts;
- place disproportionate load on the service, or resell access to it as your own product without agreement.
Security research is welcome. If you find a vulnerability, report it to [security@example.com]with enough detail to reproduce it, avoid accessing or modifying other people’s data, and give us reasonable time to fix it before disclosing. We will not pursue or support legal action — under the Computer Fraud and Abuse Act or otherwise — against good-faith research conducted on those terms.
Enforcement
Where we become aware of a violation we may remove or disable content, suspend a user or a workspace, or terminate the agreement. We act immediately without notice where there is a serious risk to people, to data or to the service; otherwise we will contact the customer first and give a chance to put it right. We report to authorities where the law requires it.
